About Louise

Louise Mangos grew up in rural north Hertfordshire in the UK. Her passion for writing was fuelled by winning a poetry competition at the age of eleven and subsequently seeing her work published in the local newspaper. Her determination to see the world led her to set aside her creative desires to embark on a series of global travels. But during this time she never stopped writing.

She took several art foundation courses in Switzerland, then studied journalism and creative writing at the University of Colorado in Boulder in her mid-twenties. Following a series of creative and novel writing workshops, the ambition to publish a full-length work of fiction was hatched. Writers are always striving to improve their craft, and she obtained her Masters in Crime Writing at UEA in 2019.

Her debut novel, the psychological thriller Strangers on a Bridge, was finalist in the 2016 Exeter Novel prize, and long listed in the Bath Novel Award in 2017. Her second novel is the psychological suspense The Art of Deception. Her third novel The Beaten Track was written for her Masters dissertation and was a finalist in the Page Turner Award in 2022.

Writing as L.S.Mangos she has recently published “The Secrets of Morgarten,” a medieval mystery set in the valley where she lives in central Switzerland. She is currently working on two more suspense novels, a sequel to the historical novel, a humorous mystery, a memoir and a collection of award-winning short fiction.

She lives with her Kiwi husband and two sons in the foothills of the Alps where she enjoys an active life in the mountains. In winter you can find her skate-skiing on the cross-country trails and in summer she enjoys wild swimming in the Swiss lakes.
